Vice President, Sports Communications

Overview: FleishmanHillard, a leading global communications agency, has an immediate opening for a Managing Supervisor or Vice President (pending experience) to join our dynamic consumer practice in New York, focusing on sports communications and media relations. This position provides a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned communications professional with a background in and passion for sports communications and sports business to work with collaborative teams on communications strategy and campaigns, creative ideation, media relations, brand building, business development and content creation on behalf of our global clients.

  • Drive day-to-day activities for multiple client accounts, including media relations, content creation, and project management for sports sponsorship activations, product announcements, athlete/celebrity endorsements and other brand activations across consumer and vertical markets.

  • Build media relations strategy and execute, with a team, for our clients across a variety of media verticals, including sports, sports business, men’s and women’s lifestyle, fashion, culture, sneakers, entertainment, local market, and more.

  • Develop and maintain strong media relationships and pitch sophisticated ideas. Help shape client stories and messages with partners across media and platforms, with the goal of integrating clients into the broader news cycle and trending social conversations.

  • Provide proactive client counsel, insights, and recommendations for sponsorship activations, athletes, teams, leagues, national governing bodies, as well as celebrity endorsements.

  • Write and edit communications materials that capture relevant audiences and reflect an understanding of our clients’ businesses – ranging from internal to external documents, including pitches, plans, memos, research, written content, media materials, website and social media content, client correspondence, and collateral.

  • Deliver creative communications ideas that help global clients breakthrough a cluttered sports landscape.

  • Work with senior team members to bring new opportunities to our existing clients and contribute to new business proposals.

This position would join FH Sports, a team of more than 150 sports centric communications counselors in 40+ offices across the world that help shape the dialogue for a roster of top global brands. A successful candidate will leverage sports, sports business, men’s and women’s lifestyle, fashion, culture, sneakers, entertainment and local market outlets. This job requires trendspotting and keeping a pulse on emerging sports and lifestyle media and platforms.
